Hakan turns 5

A week ago my handsome Hakan turned 5 years old. We threw him a big party with lots of family attending, but before I get to that, I must reminisce.







Okay- back to the party. There was lots to do, so the kids helped by filling the pinata before the guests arrived.

The Harwood and Campbell cousins came to help us celebrate and spent a good part of their time warring with our various weapons.

We all enjoyed some pizza then Hakan finally got to open his presents. (He'd been bugging me all week.) Don't let the expression fool you- he was thrilled to get Legos. It was the one and only thing on his wish list. But for some reason he felt the need to appear un-enthused about getting what he'd asked for. Go figure.

Then he discovered the Airheads and he had to crack a smile.

Can you blame me?

It kills me because he knew he was getting this present. No surprise at all- but look at that reaction!

After the presents were opened we walked over to the park that's just a couple of blocks away and let the kids play for a while. It was kind of windy that day so we didn't stay very long.

There's my boy. What a handsome guy.

Pinatas have become a birthday tradition, and the more kids there are to pummel it the better.









The cake was Aaron's masterpiece. He brought home a sheet of marble cake from work and gave it a layer of cream cheese frosting between the layers and a mixture of chocolate and vanilla on the outside. As per Hakan's request it was decorated with some block candies.

He managed to squeeze his name on there and Hakan made some creations with the candy for a little more decoration.

Thanks again to everyone who came over to celebrate Hakan's birthday with us. He told me it was the best one ever, and I know it's because so many loved ones were there to share it with him.
