We'd been looking forward to a visit from my parents for so long- pretty much since we left their house in June- so when the day finally came for them to arrive we were practically beside ourselves with anticipation!
They came in on the evening of the 6th and were able to drive themselves to our house from the airport in Detroit. We'd mailed them a spare key to Aaron's car, then Aaron left his car in the economy lot while he was away on business and told them where he'd parked.
I hate myself for not getting better photos. :(
On Thursday (since Aaron was out of town and the big kids were in school), Mom Dad and the little boys and I made a trip to Ikea. That evening Dad showed the kids a book he'd brought with him. It's called "Late For School" by Steve Martin and they LOVED IT! The idea for the book started with an instrumental he wrote for his banjo, which he then added words to, which eventually became an illustrated children's book. It also comes with a CD at the back with a recording of Steve singing the song, as well as an instrumental version.
Aaron got back into town on Thursday night and as luck would have it the kids got a snow day on Friday! We decided to head into Ann Arbor so Aaron could drop off his car to get some work done on it and then hit the U of M Natural History Museum.
The weather was REALLY CRUMMY so the walk from the parking garage to the museum was pretty miserable. But once we got there we had a pretty good time showing Grandma and Grandpa around.
Later the kids got a surprise from Grandma & Grandpa.

I love how Pyper is wearing her skates basically the whole time. Good thing you have hard wood floors. So nice when parents come to visit.
It is so fun to re-live that visit through your blog post! I hope the kids had as much fun as we did! Mom
