A visit with the Campbells

Last weekend we drove up to Concord to visit Aaron's sister, Gwen, and her family. They took us to a cute little park near their house where we had a picnic lunch and then played and played and played. Uncle Caulin set up a little soccer net for the kids.

Hakan and Seth are so funny together. Within minutes they'd found the muddiest area of grass and began tackling each other in it.

Or rather, Hakan would tackle Seth.

Future soccer player right here folks!

He still hasn't learned the no hands rule, though.

And a future quarterback!

These two boys crack me up.

Pyper made a friend with a girl her own age and was running around with her most of the time, so I didn't get many pictures of her. Here's most of the kids playing on a concrete Hotwheels ramp.

There was a little creek next to the park so, thanks to some planning by Gwen, the kids attached pieces of hot dog to string and started trying to catch crawdads.

Finn and Cade were content to just play with sticks.

It's amazing to me how patient Pyper is with things like this. It reminds me of our trip to Red Fish Lake last summer and her two hour attempt at catching a fish.

Here's where her patience almost paid off. She got two crawdads to actually start climbing onto the piece of hot dog, but unfortunately they just kept jumping off when she'd bring it to the surface. Ah, well. She had fun trying and was thrilled that she came so close to catching them!

These guys conked out during the drive back to Modesto.

But not this one!

He had other things to do.

Grooooossss!

He's lucky he's cute.
